Today, right in the middle of your chaos, stay in the light.

Because let’s be honest — this morning the dishes are still dirty, the clothes are still in the dryer, the oldest son is still tangled up in lies, my husband is irritated with me, and work is piling up like it’s training for Everest. None of this feels bright. None of it feels holy. Chaos doesn’t sparkle. It doesn’t feel joyful or easy.

But in these moments — the real ones, the heavy ones — I want to offer you a little encouragement as we walk in the light together.

(See what I did there. Don’t let it slip past you.)

Jesus tells us that if we follow Him, we will not walk in darkness. Not “might not.” Not “hopefully won’t.” Will not.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” — John 8:12 (NIV)

So even as I list out my chaos — my darkness — I’m still standing in the light. These things don’t get to steal my joy, because I don’t hand it over. I seek Him. I talk with Him. I lean into the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, and I receive comfort that doesn’t make sense on paper but makes perfect sense in His presence.

The darkness is real.

But so is the Light.

And the Light wins every time.

And just in case you thought following Jesus meant the chaos would magically pack its bags and leave — He actually told us the opposite. He said we would have trouble in this world. Not “might.” Not “if you’re unlucky.” Will. But before you throw your hands up and say, “Well that’s not encouraging,” hold on. Jesus didn’t stop there. He followed it with the most victorious mic‑drop in Scripture: He has overcome the world.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NIV)

So yes, the world is wild. Your life might feel like a circus where the animals have unionized and the ringmaster quit. But even here — even in the mess, the noise, the heartbreak, the heaviness — you can take heart. Not because you’re strong enough, but because He already won. The battle you’re panicking about is one He’s already settled. The darkness you feel pressing in is no match for the Light that lives in you.

So when the chaos feels loud and the darkness feels a little too close, slip back into the garden with Him. Not the perfect garden you imagine in your head — the real one, the one where you show up with messy hair, a tired heart, and a to‑do list that could file a complaint. The garden where He’s already waiting. Sit with Him there. Let the noise settle. Let the Light do what the Light does. Because even when your world feels like it’s spinning off its axis, the garden is steady. He is steady. And in His presence, the darkness doesn’t get the final word. The Light holds you, covers you, and welcomes you back every single time.

Helping you find peace in the garden again— because He still meets you in the middle of the mess.
