Welcome to Faith Over Chaos

Where Eden Thinking meets real life—with coffee, chaos, and a whole lot of grace.

So… I started a blog. I know—just what the internet needed: another woman with a Bible, a laptop, and a story. But this one’s different. Faith Over Chaos was born out of obedience (yes, the kind that makes you nervous) and a deep desire to share what I’ve learned while living through the kind of chaos that makes ER nurses remember your name.

Hi, I’m Deb. Wife, mom, grandmom, nurse—and apparently now, writer. I’ve spent years navigating trauma, tragedy, and the kind of spiritual growth that only comes from asking God, “Seriously? Again?” And yet, here I am. Still standing. Still believing. Still laughing (mostly at myself).

This blog is rooted in something I call Eden Thinking—a spiritual mindset that came from reflecting on the fall. In Eden, we walked and talked with God like it was normal. No trauma calls. No panic attacks. Just presence. That intimacy was disrupted by sin, but here’s the good news: through Jesus, we get to walk and talk with God again. Not in perfection—but in proximity. Through the Comforter, Advocate, Counselor, and Helper (aka the Holy Spirit).

Here, you’ll find stories from my own chaos—some funny, some heartbreaking, all honest. You’ll find devotionals, reflections, and gentle reminders that God’s presence meets us right where we are. If you’re weary, wondering, or just need a spiritual snack between appointments, you’re welcome here.

Defined by Heaven, Not by Chaos

In a world that feels like it’s constantly on fire (emotionally, spiritually, sometimes literally), Eden Thinking reminds us that we are not defined by the mess. We are defined by the One who made us. As Scripture says, “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace” (1 Corinthians 14:33, ESV). That peace isn’t passive—it’s powerful.

We are citizens of heaven, walking through earth with purpose, peace, and a little bit of holy sarcasm. Paul said it best: “But our citizenship is in heaven…” (Philippians 3:20, NIV). Eden Thinking invites us to live from that identity—not just in theory, but in practice. Even when the world feels upside down. Especially then.

My Garden of Thought

This blog is my garden of thought—a place to plant truth, pull weeds, and maybe water a few soul-seeds with tears and coffee. Eden Thinking helps me rise above the noise and anchor my identity in Christ. It’s not about pretending everything’s fine. It’s about remembering who walks with me when it’s not. Some days I’m planting truth. Some days I’m just trying to keep the weeds from winning. Either way, the soil’s sacred.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2, NIV). That renewal? It’s daily. Sometimes hourly. Sometimes minute-by-minute when the chaos hits hard.

So welcome. Whether you’re here for a deep dive or just a moment of peace between diaper changes and deadlines, I’m glad you found this space. Let’s walk together—toward purpose, toward peace, and maybe toward a few good laughs along the way.

Helping you find peace in the garden again -even if you showed up with duct tape, doubt, and a half-dead houseplant.

Let’s Reflect (aka: Soul Weeding Time)

• Where have I let chaos define me more than Christ lately?

• Am I walking with God—or just waving at Him from the panic zone?

• What weeds (fear, control, comparison, caffeine-fueled anxiety) need pulling in my garden of thought?

• Have I been living like a citizen of heaven—or like a stressed-out tourist trying to survive Earth?
